flowers in architecture
Flowers in architecture usually have served as decorative elements. Already in antique Greece flowery ornaments was supposed to make buildings prettier. It can be seen especially in columns:
Only the first three are taken from Greece, the rest are Roman. Flowerness is viewable in Ionique and Corinthian types. Roman Composite type connected both of them together into one piece. Both of the types are an amazing achievement as constructive elements of building and a lot of newer buildings (for example: created in renaissance or historicism), still, use them:
The Tempietto, Bromante, Rome:
The National Theatre, Antonio Corazzi, Warsaw:
In Gotic art flowers became symbolic and considering that art in medieval was concerned about God, those symbols were usually taken from the Bible. For example, the lilies painted with Mery on Annunciation always were a symbol of her virginity.
Annunciation, Leonardo da Vinci (it is a renaissance, not gothic, but symbolic is the same):
Another symbol of Mary was rose, which was representing her itself. It was mostly viewable in Gothic cathedrals, where rosettes were built. Rosette is wheel stained glass which looks like a rose.

Either way, most artists used a flowery accent only because of willing to make something tasteful and aesthetical. Especially in early XX when Art Nouveau and Secession had popularity. I had already written about this movement in the last post.
The Secession Building, Joseph Maria Olbrich, Vienna:
This one is more related to my work, as it have a flower, dome which could be viewed in my project too. Therefore, I think in my project is also it is correlate light, fragile elements (my project-glass, here-steel) with rough-hewn, boxy concreted parts.
I surely believe that modern designers use the flower in a similar way. Of course, presently, architects have a range of different opportunities which was not available in the past. That is the reason, why whole buildings can look like a flower.
Garden by the Bay, Singapore:
Lotus Temple – New Delhi, India:
If
you start thinking of building with flower design, this temple is first what
can come across your mind, as it so iconic. I really admire how this project
reflects the fragility and beautifulness
of lotus flower. Additionally, I look up closely for interior, because I had
not had idea how it can look like. This building help me visualize how the
indoor part could look like. And finally, I wish my project reach so huge
popularity as this one, more than 70 million visitors have been there since the
opening.
Why I am so convinced to use a flower?
I would like to use flowery shapes not only because of the aesthetic vibe or pure beautifulness, which I am thinking I will create, but also because flowers are significant in BTS's campaign.

Me after research and editing post:
This is good visual research and shows depth, but the commentary needs to be improved to show how this will relate to your own design and perhaps which of these inspires you the most - also remember you can be critical about them as well. If there is something you don't like, discuss it.
